Correlation Research Of The International Shipping Center & Finance Center

International shipping center and international finance center are always two of the world's hottest economic topics. There have already been a lot of research papers on those two centers, while most of them talk about each center separately. It's rare to find one on research of the relationship of both centers.This thesis creatively studies the relationship of both centers in both qualitative and quantitative way. If the analysis results show both centers are correlative, further study on to what extent their relation is will be conducted and development suggestions will also be offered.In qualitative analysis, this thesis firstly compares the characteristics of both centers and the development status of current international shipping centers and international finance centers. The result of such comparison shows both centers share many common grounds, such as geographic concentration, similar industrial structure, international HQ effect, dependence on governmental policy and law, etc. Further study shows two centers have both direct and indirect mutual influence.In quantitative analysis, this thesis firstly sets up evaluation system for each center and takes Shanghai as a real sample. It uses Canonical Correlation Model in calculation. The final result proves that international shipping center and international finance are related. And further research shows that the modules of Shanghai international shipping center influence Shanghai international finance center in an order of transportation abilities, hinterland economy, port production standards and soft environment of shipping market. On the other hand, Shanghai international finance center influence Shanghai international shipping center in an order of finance development standards, finance internationalization standards and soft environment of finance market.Based on the above research results, this thesis finally offers some suggestions on the interactive development between Shanghai international shipping center and international finance center, such as enhancing the mutual communication between both centers, applying free port policy, improving market system and cultivating more multi-industry experts.
