Today, with the improvement of science and technology, and as competition becomes more and more fierce, the competition between corporations is virtually the competition of core competence. Core competence can not only establish advantages for corporation in competition, but also has become the main motive for market competition. In recent years, the Balanced Scorecard's principle of comprehensive evaluation has been broadly applied in strategic management in corporation. Research has shown that BSC is of great help to the establishment of an evaluation index system for the core competence of corporation.Because of the urgent need for a sound evaluation system for the core competence of the corporation in the world, and based on the BSC theories and relative theories on core competence, this thesis tries to establish an index system for the evaluation of core competence, so as to effectively assess the core competence of the corporation. This thesis is composed of five parts, and the main structure is as follows:The first part introduces the background for the choice of topic, the significance of this research, the structure of this thesis, the innovations and shortcomings of this thesis, and provides a brief review of some references. The significance of this research lies in that although a lot of people have made some research in core competence and BSC, few have combined the study of core competence and the study of BSC. This thesis tries to scientifically apply BSC theories to the evaluation of core competence of corporation, so as to help establish a sound index system for the evaluation of core competence of corporation. The second part discusses the basic theories about core competence of corporation, including the definition, features, components of core competence, and tries to differentiate and analyze some relative concepts. The third part introduces the basic theories of BSC, including the origin, the core and the basic contents of BSC. Then it comments on the innovations and shortcomings of BSC, and discusses the significance of BSC for the establishment of an evaluation index system. The fourth part and the fifth part are the main parts of the thesis.Based on the previous two parts, the fourth part discusses the feasibility of applying BSC to the evaluation of core competence. With the framework and theories of BSC, this part establishes an index system for the evaluation of core competence of corporation. Besides the four levels ( Financial, Customer, Internal business process, Learning and growth levels) included in BSC, this part develops an index system which includes five levels. On the basis of an evaluation index system, the fifth part uses the fuzzy theory to evaluate the core competence of the corporation, and provides an example. The last part is the conclusion and a short summary of this paper.
