Research On The Scientific Literacy Of The Farmers In Shanghai Suburbs

The matter of farmers is the heart among the matters of agriculture, countryside and farmers. Because farmers are the principal force in the construction of the new socialist suburbs in Shanghai, it is the only way to improve the farmers'scientific literacy and to cherish the new-type of farmers with the acquiring education and abilities in using technology and management of operation. It is the farmers'scientific literacy that decides the speed of the construction of the new suburbs. On the basis of the comprehensive investigation on the definitions and connotation of scientific literacy at home and abroad, this paper defies the intension of farmers'scientific literacy in the actual conditions in Shanghai suburbs. Through the investigation on the scientific literacy of the farmers at the age between 18 to 69 in Shanghai suburbs, which includes the questions that how much scientific knowledge they have, what the main channels are for them to gain the scientific information, how much they understand the scientific researches and the effects of science and technology on society, the article analyzes the present problems and features as well as the further influences, and put forward the solutions and suggestions on promoting the scientific literacy of the farmers in Shanghai suburbs.
