The world fastener's development has entered a steady progression stage, but the product competition is becoming more intense, as the technical and capital barrier is lower to enter this profession, many new companies were born recently which go on a low cost strategy. In addition to the unceasingly rose of raw material price in recent years, it has created a pressure in the cost to the entire fastener companies, and also has compressed their profit space, which UFS company does so in 2007. In this very moment, UFS Company has determined to invest"carbide 2nd punch"tooling to reduce the tooling cost and to keep a good relationship with its customer, thus enhanced its competitive power.However UFS Corporation realized that his own tooling life is only about 60% of CAMCAR Company's, hence, enhancing the tooling life is a difficulty faced by the UFS Company. However, upon collecting the first-hand material, we have found out the production situation, and carried on the classification analysis of the material. We found the key factors of influencing tooling life: they are the running machine in unstable station, production technician's technical level, as well as the SPC system regulation statistics was out of control condition, instead of OPG machine and the technicians. Hence we proposed the solution and took an action plan to the above key question.With gradually analyzing the problems, we have detected that the original process flow which designed unreasonably was also an essential factor. It was unable to track the tool use and the flow of information smoothly. Therefore we research to process flow restoration and proposed a new process flow chart unified with ERP system for tracking tooling life and sharing information, it would greatly improve system's efficiency.At the same time, in order to enhance staff's enthusiasm and cut down staff's dismiss ion rate and retain some meticulous staff, we proposed to carry on personnel performance to the staff, and establish staff's individual technical records, so as to create a better management condition from now on.Finally, we have evaluated to the implementation effect, and it has proved that these solutions are effective and feasible to enhance 15% of the tool life.This is only a case study, which provides the fundamental research and methods of analyzing and solving question that are actually general character which may use other domains.
