A Study On Accelerating The Transformation Of Growth Mode Of China's Export Trade

This thesis further explores the problems in the continuous development of foreign trade in China. Two problems are focused: one is to discuss the applicability of comparative advantage theory in China; and the other is how to change ideas to promote the transformation of the growth mode of China's foreign trade.The first part thoroughly illustrates the development and applicability of comparative advantage theory and analyzes the factors that affect the dynamic change of comparative advantage. The thesis holds that it is the stock of factor endowment that determines one country's status in international division of labor and determines that we will have to exert our labor-incentive comparative advantages contentiously in the long run. But traditional comparative advantage theory is static. We need to form a dynamic point of view about our advantages. Two factors can influence it. One is factor accumulation and the other is technical advancement. China's growth mode of foreign trade basically is extensive. The extensive way of trade mainly relies on intensive usage of resources, the employment of cheap labor and the exportation of low-quality products. Although in recent year the export structure has become better and better, the labor-intensive products which have low technical content, still constitute great part of our exportation. A lot of domestic enterprises still have no ability to create their own techniques and brands. The extensive growth mode also leads to the raise of cost of resources and cost of sustainable development and thus arises the trade frictions both with the developed and developing countries.So it is of highly importance to transfer our trade development pattern. Then the thesis brings forward some practical measures which include changing the outdated ideas that export is vital, upgrading processing trade, attaching importance to maintain trade balance, adjusting and optimizing structure of foreign trade and improving service trade development etc.
