The Comparative Advantage And Technical Content Of Chinese Parts And Components Trade:Research On Structure And Evolution

With the rapid growth of Chinese import and export trade, chinese trade structure has changed a lot. From the value perspective, parts and components trade has constituted an important part of Chinese commodity trade, so studying parts and components trade has a certain theoretical and practical significance.This paper mainly depend on UN Comtrade Database,calculating RCA index (including PRCA and ARCA index), NEB index and technical content of the 349 parts and components products which are divided by SITC5digit classification in 2001, 2006,2011 three annual, Through the qualitative analysis of comparison advantages index and technical content index, we research the export comparative advantage and echnological structure evolution characteristics of chinese parts and components trade in recent years,the main conclusion as follows:(1)The degree which Chinese participation in intra-product specialization is deepening, the field is expanding, Instead of the imports of relevant categories of components,Chinese gradually import manufactured goods and components which are from domestic production Chinese has turned into a large parts and components exporter. (2)By analyzing the change of Chinese electrical transport parts and components trade, it reflects that the Chinese parts and components trade has developed the centralized advantage and also active in expanding the export advantage of other high technology products;but the technology level of some parts is not enough, for example optical equipment parts.(3)In the past 10 years, Chinese components assembling comparative advantage degree declines, the range is narrowing, instead Chinese components producting comparative advantage is strengthening.(4)It is found that the comparative advantages of most products has increased or the comparative disadvantages has declined. Chinese parts and components export competitiveness has the rising trend. The trade volume of the products which export competitiveness has enhanced accounted for nearly 80% of total trade volume.(5)The article shows that the export technical content of Chinese parts and components is on an upward trend, despite the growth rate of the export technical content of Chinese parts is faster than the world and the gap is narrowing, the average technical content of Chinese parts and components is still lower than the world. (6)China has gradually developed the export comparative advantage of high-tech products instead of the export comparative advantage of low-tech products, China is experiencing rising from the low-end to high-end link, it is gradually getting rid of the status of processing and assembling and achieving a certain degree of industrial upgrading. Finally, through the conclusions of the analysis, we put forward the corresponding policy recommendations.
