Leadership has long existed since there is organization within human beings. During the course of its development, people-oriented leadership plays an important role in the links of its chain. Systematic research into leadership originated from western countries and experienced three stages including quality study, behavior study and tact study. Though Chinese traditional leadership theories have great differences comparing with western leadership theories, it still have a large of valuable experience. Standing on the shoulders of some great forerunners, China Communists represented by Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and so on have created many excellent methods and theories of leadership which have already become the guiding principles of modern leadership in China. Retrospecting leadership theories home and abroad and analyzing current social and historical background, we all have these experiences that leadership practice and leadership theories have become more and more experienced, scientific and artistic in leadership history. The essence and orientation of this course lies in that leadership should be based on human beings. That is also to say, during the dynamic leadership practice, we should embody the value of human beings, praise individuality of human beings, respect human beings, improve the ability of human beings, set the creativity of human beings free and create an environment of self-leading.The significance of the idea of"based on human beings"not only lies in philosophy, but also lies deeply in reality. The close relationship between this idea and people-oriented leadership is dialectical and unified. This idea is the running start and the end-result of people-oriented leadership. People-oriented leadership is also the value tropism of this idea. People-oriented leaders possess these merits: they can adapt themselves to new current of the times; they are the models of high character; they have excellent personalities; they have the spirit of serving for people. These merits provide conditions for the realization of people-oriented leadership and make innovations from the aspects of ideas, aims, roles and decision-making in leadership.
