ObjectExploring the reliability and validity of Lerner Defense Scale through testing defense mechanisms of different groups (control, schizophrenia, neuroses), to looking for a new way of diagnosing and classifying different kinds of mental disorders in clinic.Method30 people in control group were taken randomly, and 30 schizophrenia patients were taken in Guangzhou Brain Hospital, the other 30 neuroses patients were from Guangzhou Overseas Chinese Hospital. Patients taken must meet the CCMD-3 diagnosis criterion. All people were evaluated by Rorschach Scale.ResultsHigh levels of rater reliability was obtained (kappa>0.74). There was a significant correlation between two evaluations, the correlation coefficient are between 0. 72 and 1.00. LDS can distinguish different mental disorders and evaluate severity of them.ConclusionLDS has good reliability and validity, and the defensive constellations of different mental diseases are different, and LDS can be used in diagnosis and classification.
