The retailing is very importable industry in our national economy, and awindow of reflecting the economic development of a country, the prosperity ofa society, and a weatherglass of the overall capacity of the country and living of the people, and a accelerator of starting up the market, upgrading thedemands and consumption. In overseas and domestic documents of the researchin competitiveness field, the evaluating indicators concentrate on the levelof collectivity corporations, lay particular stress on determine the natureanalysis, not making use of quantitative analysis, and lacking the effect infact. So it's hard to make suggestions to upgrade the competitiveness of retailing enterprises. Because the competitiveness of retailing enterprises canbe reflected by financial indicators, and make an example of listed retailingenterprises with empirical evidence. Therefore, the article is theoreticallyand practically vital to understand the research of the competitive abilityof retailing enterprises.According to the specialties and structure of the retailing enterprises,make an example of listed retailing enterprises with empirical evidence basedon financial indicators with the method of Factor Analysis. There is an analysis on the result, and give some advise to upgrading the competitiveness ofour retailing enterprises.The main contents are presented as follows.First, according the definition of a usual competitiveness of enterprises,I find the meaning of he competitiveness of retailing enterprises, taking into account of the specialties in retailing industry. Then I present the 7 as-pects of competitiveness of our retailing enterprises,and analysis the circ-umstances, the actuality, and the problems of our competitiveness of enterpri-ses.Second is the constructing of the evaluating indicators based on financia l indicators ,I select 8 financial indicators, and divide into 4 groups, justthe ability of profits, the ability of management, the ability of debt service, and the ability of going up. And I use the software SPSS 11.5 to deal thedata of examples with the method of Factor Analysis. The examples are 30 li-sted retailing enterprises. I analysis the typical enterprises to compare thewith the real enterprises, and to explain the representation of the retaili-ng enterprises.At last, I give some suggestions about upgrading the competitiveness of retailing enterprises as an enterprise, or the government and or the social middle organization—guilds.
