Analysis And Countermeasures Study On The Status Quo Of Beijing Subway Passenger's Safety Awareness

In recent years, Beijing's rail transportation lines have enjoyed an explosive growth, and the subway operating frequency has been significantly increased. And the Olympics will be held in Beijing in 2008. All of the above objectively set higher requirements to Beijing's subway safety, so we need to go on an in-depth study on it. Based on the predecessors' analysis about internal factors of Beijing's subway safety, an empirical study on safety awareness of subway passengers is conducted in this paper to analyze the status of passengers' safety awareness and to find countermeasures for improving its level.Based on the theories of safety management and referring to the domestic and international research on safety awareness, a method is carried out about discussing safety awareness of subway passengers from three aspects: the passengers' knowledge on subway safety, their attitudes towards subway safety and their safety behaviors. Then surveys and site visits are employed to research the status of passengers' safety awareness. To analyze data, frequency statistics, contingency table analysis, single factor analysis of variance and correlation test are used. After a careful analysis of the survey data, the findings reveal that the passengers' knowledge on safety is far from adequate and it should be a focus to improve. Countermeasures to enhance safety awareness of passengers are also put forward in this thesis, such as relevant departments should make regular inquiries into passengers' safety awareness by using Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis.
