The 9.11 terrorist attack upon America caused the total collapse of the former World Trade Center and on its debris will rise the Freedom Tower. The thesis gives a probe into the planning processes of the two buildings separately, so as to disclose their strikingly contrastive characteristics—the closed former process and the relatively open latter process. On the basis of the preliminary conclusions, further exploration is made of the causes of the change so that the present status of public participation in urban planning in contemporary America will be made clearer. |
