With the development of technology and society,the requirements of the product trend to high quality,diversity and short fulfillment lead time.How to improve the quality,reduce the cost and shorten the delivery cycle time are becoming more and more important for most of the company.Why "Sigma"? The word is a statistical term that measures how far a given process deviates from perfection.The central idea behind Six Sigma is that "defects" can be measured systematically in the process and they can be eliminated.To achieve Six Sigma Quality,a process must produce no more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities.An "opportunity" is defined as a chance for nonconformance,or not meeting the required specifications.This means the key process to be nearly flawless during the executing.Six sigma is a good method for eliminating customer perceived defects,and increasing customer satisfaction.Almost all Quality professionals have heard of the benefits of Six Sigma Quality.Companies like GE,Motorola,and AlliedSignal have already saved billions of dollars with their Six Sigma Quality initiatives.Lean manufacturing is a generic process management philosophy derived mostly from the Toyota Production System(TPS).Lean is about doing more with less:less time,inventory,space,labor,and money."Lean manufacturing",a shorthand for a commitment to eliminating waste,simplifying procedures and speeding up production.Lean Manufacturing is,in its most basic form,the systematic elimination of waste-overproduction,waiting,transportation,inventory,motion,over-processing, defective units,and the implementation of the concepts of continuous flow and customer pull.Lean Six sigma,which is the integration of Lean and six sigma can create a competitive advantage surpassing other company.It is not simple equation of Lean added to Six Sigma.The first principle of Lean Six Sigma is:Delight customers with speed and quality.The second principle is:Improve process flow and speed.Lean Six Sigma emphasizes that speed is directly tied to excellence.The modes of Lean Production and Six Sigma are systematically analyzed in this thesis.The advantages and disadvantages of the two modes are pointed out.Six Sigma Methodology aims at eliminating variations,stabilizing the process,gaining customer satisfaction,and improving performance dramatically,while lean philosophy focuses on reducing waste,optimize the process,and cutting down the cost.The conception of lean Six Sigma is explored.How to choose the right method and tool in the lean six sigma project are introduced.How lean six sigma applied in GE company are introduced by two real case,one is a complex problem about the material inventory decrease,the tools are mainly focused on Six Sigma DMAIC.And another case is about lead time reduce,it is easy to find the key factors,so the Lean Value Steam Map are used.Main contents and standpoints can be summarized as follows:Chapter 1:Six sigma methodology introduction..Chapter 2:Lean Production introduction.Chapter 3:Lean Six sigma methodology.Chapter 4:The application of Lean Six sigma in GE HuaLun Medical systems company.
