Study Of Engineering Factor In EPC Projects

EPC general contracting mode is worldwide popular now and is vigorously spreading in China. Recently more and more EPC projects have appeared in construction market. But domestic construction corporations'contracting ability and management level don't adapt to the requirement of EPC projects yet. To adapt to the development of construction market, domestic construction corporations must improve their management.Design management is the key of EPC project management, good design management can guarantee the success of the project. Now there are more study about EPC mode, but less study about design management of EPC projects, so it is urgent to enhance design factor study and raise design management level.Based on the former study on EPC projects, the thesis analyzes the main design process and design control of EPC projects, points out the problems which should be noticed during the design process and puts forward the relevant solutions. The thesis also discusses the key points of schedule control, cost control and quality control on project design during bid phase and execution phase.The thesis puts forward EPC design management strategies separately for design-main general contractor and construction-main contractor. Based on the analysis on the influence factors of subcontract competency and linguistic assessment information technology, the paper establishes a design subcontractor evaluation and choose model and then demonstrates it using an example. The thesis also applies the collaborative design method into EPC project design management, sets up a project collaborative design system based on computer technology. It offers a new way to enhance design management effectiveness.The design management strategy and management method given by the paper are practical and feasible, it can help improve the design manage competency of domestic general contractors.
