Nowadays, enterprises are facing more fierce competition. In order to increase adaptability, obtain and maintain competitive advantages, enterprises are paying more attention to how to promote the organization's overall and long-term performances. How to design and build an effective performance management system that meets the enterprise's strategic needs, effectively ensures and supports its long-term development has become extremely important. Taking KD Company for example, this paper, in combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, designs a new, result-and- competence-based performance index model and develop a set of performance management system adaptable to KD's long-term strategic development.The paper gives an introduction about the research background and current research work and makes brief analysis about relevant theories of performance management, making preparations of theory and methods for the following research. Then it introduces the overall situation of KD Company and analyzes its current performance management. The analysis demonstrates that its performance management and strategy implementation do not coordinate effectively and it simply regards performance assessment as performance management. From the aspects of result and competence and associating company's strategic goals, the paper, under the method of balanced score card, key performance index and competence model, redesigns KD's performance management index, develops a performance management. It also designs a whole performance management process, including performance plan, performance implementation, performance assessment, performance feedback and interview and performance result. Therefore, it builds a performance management system relating to company's strategic goals to conduct its employees to realize its goals and increase company's performances. It has been proved that this performance management system is successful and effective to solve the company's problems. This performance management system has great significance for KD Company and can also provide references for other enterprises.
