To survive in the competitive market, the corporation must make its production rapidly response to the flexible demand. And the corporations must join together as a supply chain, because the market is the competition among supply chains rather than the corporations. Information sharing is an important approach of the cooperation among the corporations in a supply chain. In the manufacture company, they usually use the MPS (master production schedule) in their MRP (material requirement planning) to make the production schedule. Traditionally, the companies use single freeze fence to manage the MPS. A new approach to manage the MPS with the name of multiple freeze fences is introduced to this dissertation. This dissertation presented the study on the impact of the approach of managing freeze fence used in the MRP system on the performance of a supply chain with one capacitated manufacture and four retailers under uncertainty demands of three items. A computer model was developed to simulate the supply chain. The object-oriented C++ language was used to process the simulation program. The production status, the inventory status and the sale status were observed in the process of the program simulation. The output from the program were analyzed by the statistically software, to get the conclusion about the impact of managing freeze fence and information sharing on supply chain performance. There were six chapters in this dissertation. The first chapter was the introduction of the research background. The second chapter introduced the knowledge about the supply chain management, the approach of managing freeze fences, the method of simulation and so forth. The third chapter introduced the model and the basic assumptions used in the research. The fourth chapter described the simulation program and the three phases in the program. The fifth chapter showed the results of the analysis of the output data. The last chapter summarized the conclusion, and made some suggestion to the further researchers.
