Along with the deepening of reform and development of the market economy structure, the securities market in China, an important component of modern market economy, has developed by leaps and bounds in a certain extent. China's securities market has developed in a short span of 10 years, but it finished the 100 years of development history in developed countries. According to statistics released by the China Securities Regulatory Commission website information, as of January 2006, the number of listed companies in China amounts to 1,378 (including A and B shares), the market value is worth of 3.493194 trillion Yuan. Circulation value is worth of 1.175375 trillion Yuan and the total equity shares are up to 760.794 billion. At the peak in 2001, the total market value of China's stock market amounted to 5.4trillion Yuan, sharing 60% of the GDP. China's securities market is playing a prominent role in the promotion of capital accumulation, optimizing the distribution of resource and noticing the country's macroeconomic situation. It increasingly becomes the core of the modern market economy. As an emerging market, China's securities market still has many problems. With promulgation of the "Company Law", the "Securities Act" and other series of laws and regulations, the regulatory role has been gradually revealed. But many problems still exist, such as unperfected legal system, inefficient law enforcement, insufficient regulatory power and regulatory inefficiency. The outstanding performance is the following: illegal operation of securities institution, a large number of listed companies in default of payments crisis emerging fraud; repeated violations of the legitimate rights and interests of investors and so on.
