| Recent years China has paid much attention to forward logistics, but there is little concern on reverse logistics. As a comparatively new area, the term of reverse logistics first appeared in overseas journal in 1990s. With the rapid decrease of the exploitable resource and the increase of environment pollution, Reverse logistics has been widely focused by some developed country as the consumers are more concerned about environment. In China, resource exhaustion and environment pollution are more severe, which have become the main obstacles and bottleneck of economy sustainable development. Its natural resource per capita is much less than the average of the world. Because of low-level productive technology, waste of natural resource is serious and only a small percentage of waste is reclaimed or reused. Some wastes are badly dangerous to the health of the public. Developing logistics is of vital importance to our country, and is of close benefit to the society as a whole.As china became the member of WTO, Chinese corporations will be confronted more fierce competition. Developing Logistics is a good choice for them to gain competition advantage. Because it can help companies reduce resource consumption, promote customer service level, enlarge market share and gain perfect corporation image.Firstly, this thesis reviews the theory development in brief , and introduces some basic knowledge of reverse logistics. The paper analyzes the compelling factors and describes reverse logistics activities and procedure. Secondly, the paper analyzes three basic operational patterns for companies to operate reverse logistics: self-support, joint venture, outsourcing and their strength, weakness, opportunity and threat. On the basis of above analysis and with the combination of theory and case, the thesis presents the selection of operational pattern according to the scale of company and the product characteristics, and put forward some suggestion on reverse logistics management. |
