Study On Urban Development And District Governance In Chongqing And Chengdu

This paper deals with the present situation, development and models of the urban and district governance in both Chongqing and Chengdu. It was focused on three aspects: describing the history and present situation of the urban and district administration in both Chongqing and Chengdu from both quantity and quality aspect based on my comprehensive assessment of the previous literature review; exploring the existing problems in this field, comparing laterally the present economic development in Chongqing and Chengdu while giving a qualitative comment on the urban and regional development. Based on the analysis above, this present paper firstly provides the empirical analysis on the construction of the models to administrate the cities and districts in Chongqing and Chengdu. Then it looks back the cooperation foundation between the two cities and explores the potential opportunities for the two sides to work together further. Lastly a practical model to administrate the two cities is put forward. The author employs an empirical research method as well as a historical and comparative method to discuss the administrative models. The findings reveal: 1) The two governments share a good foundation in the field of administration. Thanks to the similar cultural background, value recognition and customs, there is no language obstacles or cogitative differences in the process of communication and cooperation between the people from the two cities. With the expansion of urbanization, the two cities are more willing to cooperate with each other to achieve a win- win goal. Therefore, the cooperation between the two sides is quite meaningful as far as the development of the two cities and the improvement of people's living standards are considered.2) There is a relative strong sense of the urban and regional administration in Chongqing and Chengdu. Considering the good cooperation between the two governments, the active involvement between the people from the two cities and the good performance of the market-subject--- enterprises, the concept of urban and district administration has been attached great importance.
