Chongqing Exhibition Center is a well-known enterprise in the exhibition industry in Chongqing.It has been established for about eight years, dealing with the business of exhibition venue renting, exhibition organizing and undertaking, and exhibition service offering etc. As the secretary-general unit of Chongqing Exhibition Industry Association, Chongqing Exhibition Center is the unique company possessing its own venue.The company was established in 1997, and began the business in December 1998. It was just after the construction of the center had been finished that the First China Chongqing International Automobile & Autocycle Exhibition was held. The development of Chongqing exhibition industry began with very slow pace in 1988, and then started soaring after the construction of the center. Due to the great support from the government and the business mode of regarding the venue management the foundation and expanding the exhibition operation, the center has developed terrifically in the past eight years: the center expanded from the original area of 5000 square meters to nowadays 25000 square meters, and the number of units increased from less than one hundred to more than that, besides the number of exhibitions held annually is forty, compared with the number of less than ten at the very beginning. And the staff working there also grew to more than one hundred. The company has changed the name for several times, from Chongqing Technology Exhibition Center to Chongqing Exhibition Center.In the recent years, the local government has paid great attention to the exhibition industry in Chongqing. The Chongqing International Conference Exhibition Center invested by the government has been put into use on 11th October 2005. It hadsuccessfully hosted 2005 Chongqing Asian-Pacific Cities Summit and 2006 Chongqing Autumn Real Estate Exhibition. With the rapid development of Chongqing economy, many famous exhibition companies, domestic and abroad, came to Chongqing, and the local companies also blossomed, which brought about great changes in this market. The existence of Chongqing International Conference Exhibition Center gives the venue rental business of Chongqing Exhibition Center a tremendous shock, so with other businesses. The key point of this article is to talk about how to keep advanced and remain competitive in this new situation.The article will analyse the present economic situation in Chongqing, exhibition industry and the venue itself, and try to find out the advantages of the company, which can hopefully lead to a reassessment of the center. Upon that the corporation can make its development stratagem and elaborate on it detailedly when it is functioning, which will ultimately achieve the goal of the corporation's persistent growth.According to the market-sharing chart, the center still holds a proportion of the whole market, which, seeing from the present situation of the business, contributes to the profit gaining of the company. The center needs to win more support from the government to maintain its venue rental business. It also should give that business up when the profit gained from venue rental cannot meet its cost. Since exhibition organization and management are two important elements of the business value, the center should regard the two the key points of its following development plan, for the company has a team of strong ability, which beats other competitors strongly. Besides, the information got from the exhibition activities offers more opportunities to the company development.
