Research On The Action Of Industrial Park On Regional Economic Development

It clearly appears that the industrial park is an effective form and an important carrier for many countries and regions to develop their modern industries and high technology industries. Likely, China has experienced a swift development in industrial park since the reform and open-door policy. In fact, it is so heated that it has brought liveliness and vitality to the national economy. The emergence and development of these industrial parks have not only brought themselves enormous economic returns, but also played an important part in speeding up their region's industrialization and urbanization, adjusting and optimizing its industrial structure, accelerating the enterprises'technical innovations and industrial upgrading, and in promoting regional economic growth. In the course of the nation's acceleration in its information-driven industrialization, the industrial park will produce positive effects on regional economic development through economies of scale and agglomeration economies that are realized by the agglomeration of industries in space and their interactions. Under such background, it is very important, both theoretically and practically, to make researches into the action of the industrial park on regional economic development.This thesis, taking the action of industrial park on regional economic development as its object, and based on an analysis of the nation's present situation, cause of formation and state of development as regards the industrial park, focuses on the real actions of the industrial park on regional economic development by applying relevant theories on regional economics and development economics and by employing both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Then it makes assessment of the action of the industrial park on regional economic development by means of an index system that is made up of indices of the industrial park's action on regional economic development. Besides, it makes a case study of the Shiyaodian Industrial Park, a still-under-construction industrial park in Shenmu county, North China's shaanxi Province, and gives some political suggestions. It reaches in the end the following three conclusions: (1) the industrial park can promote the regional economic development mainly in such three ways as capital overflow, extension of the industrial chain and spread of the technical innovation. The action of the industrial park on regional economic development is realized mutually by its internal and external forces and the forces from its above and below. To illustrate the influencing process, the thesis constructs a network model based on the interrelations of the subjects of action formed in this process. (2) From an analysis of the acting way and acting process, the thesis draws another conclusion that there are six factors of the industrial park that are positively influential in regional economic development, namely, the growth of theentrepreneurs, the completion and perfection of the infrastructure, the improvement of the population's quality, the strengthening of the industrial ties, the park's technical innovations and the enhancement of the brand effect. (3) Taking the Shiyaodian Industrial Park in Shenmu county as a studying case, the thesis makes comprehensive assessment of the action of the park on regional development. It concludes from the outcome of the assessment that completion of the construction work of Shiyaodian Industrial Park will play an important role in strengthening the local ability to carry out innovations.
