Municipal solid waste generation and pollution are one of challenges in China which troubled urban sustainable development. Municipal solid waste management has not reached the corresponding standards owing to technology, capital, management constraints and other factors. So we need search for some scientific and effective management methods which can solve the problems of municipal solid waste management. The aims are to build a resource-saving and environment-friendly Livable Cities which have the major theoretical and practical significances.Firstly the article analyzes solid waste management content and objectives. Secondly, it compares the application of some traditional forecasting methods in the waste generation and treatment system. Finally, it discusses the feasibility of system dynamics in solid waste management system. Most urban waste management carried out relatively late which caused the lack of relevant statistical data. And there are many uncertainties in the waste management. So traditional methods did not achieve the desired results. This paper summarizes and reviews forecasting methods and models of the MSW at home and abroad; The article builds the feedback relationship and model flow diagram of four sub-models and forms the integrated model by the four sub-models,and it adopts system dynamics method and the Vensim-PLE soft to analyze the MSW factor in Hangzhou. It simulates population, waste-generated amount, waste-collected amount, waste-treated amount of Hangzhou in different policy, and analyzes the results and gives some advice on MSW.The innovation of this paper is the introduction of the system dynamics method to study solid waste management system of Hangzhou and verify the effectiveness of the system dynamics model. The garbage fees as an instrumental variable analyze its influence on waste-generated amount, waste-collected amount and waste-treated amount.Since the research capacity is limited, it only considers the influence of population on waste-generated amount that may affect the research result and predicts waste-treated amount, the optimal waste disposal methods can be further studied. And the article considers the impact of the market on the waste management system, not take into account the role of government.
