China is one of countries which take the heaviest garbage burden in the world, about a quarter of garbage volume in the world every year, and the amount of city garbage has increased at the mean annual rate of 8.98 percent. Compared with developed cities, the municipal domestic waste collection and transport in Chinese small and medium-sized cities are relatively backward, there are no compress style transfer stations in many cities, and the domestic rubbish is mainly collected by the cleaners, so the working efficiency is low, and the environmental protection condition is bad. To change the current situation, it should be invested more human, material and financial resources. At the same time, the method of large cities can not be mechanically applied in some small and medium-sized cities, and should make the improvement gradually along with the development, according to the actual situation. Firstly, this dissertation describes the concept and theory of the domestic waste logistics, elaborates the frame and characteristic of domestic waste collection and transport logistics. Secondly, it gives a domestic waste collection model, and a method is provided to get the optimal solution by using GA. We make a computer program by matlab, so we can get optimal route of domestic waste collection by using this program. Meanwhile, according to the characteristic of waste collection in small and medium-sized cities, and refer to the research on the logistics centre location, we give an optimal method of the transfer station location. Finally, we discuss the specification of the domestic waste transport logistics system in the small and medium-sized cities, and give Huhhot as the example, study the present situation of domestic waste transport logistics system in this city and propose a way to improve this system. This dissertation provide a comprehensive research on optimal problem of the domestic waste transport logistics system in small and medium-sized cities, and has certain reference value in operation and long-term planning of domestic waste collection and transfer in small and medium-sized cities.
