Expedition on globalization process greatly affects world economy and life. Among all changes, the biggest one is growing number of production activities and resource allocation at global scale. As a result of this, the status and role of shipping industry in social economic development is undergoing great changes accordingly. It has become an important basis for one country or one region to effectively participate in economic globalization and to maintain its dominant position in international competition. It has also become an indispensable and integral part of modern logistics. Facing enormous impact of'knowledge economy', shipping enterprises continue developing logistics information technology construction to meet customer needs and public interests to the greatest extend, in order to survive in fierce competition.This paper utilizes relevant theories of logistics management and knowledge on logistics information systems. From the prospect of large-scaled shipping enterprises logistics information construction, based on shipping enterprises core business activities workflow, this paper applied system optimization method to improve information technology and reconstruct workflow. Efficient integration and in-depth application of information technology and advanced management ideas are also been emphasized to infuse advanced business management ideas and concepts into logistics information system, and to eventually successfully realize core business activities'information system transformation. The whole study demonstrates the importance of information construction in promoting the continuous development of enterprises.In the second half of this paper, future prospects on information construction of modern shipping logistics industry are viewed with possible problems and deficiency discussed. Comments and suggestions to solve them are also put forward.
