| With the number of HAIGUI growing in China recently, and they are become younger in average age, what's more, they are mainly engaged in knowledge-intensive work. So Generation Y Returned Knowledge Workers are becoming one of the labor market players.The study reviews the researches on the related theories of Generation Y, work values and engagement, try to find the special work values of the Generation Y Returned Knowledge Workers. Through expert interviews and a combination of literature review, designs the work values and engagement questionnaire, and then conducts an empirical study among 120 Shanghai Generation Y returned knowledge workers,61 Shanghai Generation X knowledge workers returnees and 88 Shanghai non-returnees Generation Y in Shanghai using well-develop questionnaires.The result of study shows that:(1) there are significant differences between Generation Y returned knowledge workers and non-returnees Generation Y, Generation Y returned knowledge workers pay more attention on altruism/Social Contribution and career growth & development;(2)Generation Y returned knowledge workers and Generation X returned knowledge workers have significant differences on both Self realization & respect and career growth & development, Generation X returned knowledge workers are attach more importance to Self realization & respect and career growth & development;(3) The overall work value of the Generation Y returned knowledge workers significantly positive correlation with engagement.Based on the research and the work value of generation Y returned knowledge workers, this paper finally puts forward a series of human resources management measures ascending engagement degrees of generation Y returned knowledge employee:(1) To recruit and select based on the work value;(2) To emphasis on the influence of work values, strengthen the guidance and supervision work value of employees too;(3) To strengthen training and career planning of the Generation Y returned knowledge workers;(4) To involve more the Generation Y returned knowledge workers in decision-making management. |
