Influence Of Land Requisition On Life Satisfaction-Evidence From A National Survey In Rural China

With the process of urbanization in China, the number of land-deprived peasant increases quickly for a lot of rural land were taken. As a result, many social problems emerge, such as unlimited land acquisition, unreasonable compensation and so on. These problems affect the satisfaction degree of living condition and finally affect our country's economic growth and social stability.Based on a nationwide large sample survey data, this paper mainly did the following two analysis from the standpoint of the peasants:one is the quantification and statistic analysis of life satisfaction as well as the factors that affect the people's life satisfaction assessment; two is researching the relationship between life satisfaction and the factors, mainly focusing on the government land acquisition's influence on people's life satisfaction. We can draw the following conclusions:(1) Famer's income and expense change a lot after land acquisition.The land-deprived peasants'income increased less than the whole sample interviewee both in magnitude and the rate of growth. While on the contrary, their expense is larger regardless of magnitude or the rate of growth. The land acquisition didn't make the peasants'life standard higher but lower, and their financial situation is worse than before.(2) Famer's social relationship also changed a lot. On the one hand, they extremely believe family members, on the other hand, they almost didn't believe in their neighbours which means the sense of trust between neighbors were gone after land acquisition compared to the old days, the life satisfaction was reduced as a result.(3) The rate of endowment insurance attendance of land-deprived peasants is low. For one hand, after have lost the farmland, the famers can't guarantee stable agricultural income; for the other hand, caused by Incompleteness of law, limited economic capability, famers'rate of endowment insurance attendance was very low which may cause future livelihood problem.(4) As a whole, the interviewee are satisfied with their life. Comparatively speaking, Pearl River Delta's famers have the lowest level, the famers'satisfaction in Chengdu-Chongqing Economy Region and Encircle Bohai region are higher.(5) Life satisfaction is affected by many factors. The following factors has a positive correlation with life satisfaction:age, psycho and physical health, social relationship, average income per year, besides, holding the post of village officers will also has a positive affection on life satisfaction. Agriculture income'proportion of a family's general income has a negative affection. Over all, the behavior of government land acquisition has a negative correlation with life satisfaction when the p equals 0.05.On the whole, this research indicates that satisfaction level of the land-deprived fames'life is lower than the other famers, which means land acquisition violates the famers'interests and finally increase their dissatisfaction of life in subjective evaluation.
