Convenience store is a type of Retailing,which satisfy the demand of convenience and emergency,it has been becoming one of the most competitive retailing. The convenience store originates in the United States, has been developing rapidly in Japan and Taiwan, its characteristics has been played fully. In the 1990s of 20th Century, convenience store has been introduced into China, and it has grown in some developed littoral areas, especially in Shanghai.Convenience store in Shanghai after almost 20 years development, has become a business development and urban construction of a beautiful scenery. Because of its convenience, the development of convenience store is of great significance of Shanghai. This paper proposed the development theory of retailing and the successful experiences of developing convenience store at home and abroad, combining with Shanghai region concrete city characteristics, analyzing the macro factors and the competitive environment and existing problems of convenience store, and on this basis to explore the development countermeasures of Shanghai convenience store.Full-text content is divided into six chapters. The first chapter for the introduction covers the research background, the purpose and meaning, by literature review, detail reviews about the domestic research status of convenient retail chain. The second chapter reviews the basic theory and convenience retailing forms of retail chain characteristics and development process of evolution. The third chapter, discusses in Shanghai development convenient retail chain significance and development status, including macro environment and competitive environment. The forth chapter, analyses Shanghai convenient retail chain development from six aspects, points out the problems existing in the convenience store retail organizations lack of mode of operation adjustment and innovation are the current main problems.The fifth chapter, according to the problems, some countermeasures for developing Shanghai convenience store are put forward, such as adjusting the commodity restructure, higher the level of service, strengthening commodity management, developing distribution, information and chain systems, enhancing staff training. And the development of Shanghai convenience store needs more supports and standardizing from the government.
