The Research About Relational Embeddedness Effect On The Cooperative Performance Of Upstream And Downstream Supply Chain Collaboration

With the rapid development of the demand personalization, labor division and specialization, manufacturing globalization, promoting the upstream and downstream supply-demand relationship from loose-style competition into win-win collaborative relationship. Internal resources and capabilities have far less shown their competitive advantage, what should take advantage of their relationships embedded in the supply chain network, and turn upstream and downstream supply chain collaboration into a new research focus.In this paper, as an entry point for embedded relation, we focus on the influencing mechanism of the relational embeddedness between upstream and downstream supply chain on cooperation performance.This article starts from the relational embeddedness, which is divided into three dimensions of trus,information sharing,joint problem-solving, pulls into organizational collaboration capabilities, and puts forward the conceptual model of "relational embeddedness-organization collaboration-supply chain cooperation performance". Then, we apply the survey questionnaires from manufacturing enterprises in Yangtze River Delta, such as Taizhou, Hangzhou, Jinhua, Ningbo, Nanjing and so on, to validate the correlation between variables in the model.Drawing on the theoretical analysis and quantitative empirical research, some conclusions can be showed as follows:(1) In the supply chain network, the level of trust, information sharing, and joint problem solving of the relational embeddedness between core enterprises and their upstream or downstream supply enterprises positively and significantly influence the performance of inter-firm cooperation.(2) In the supply chain network, the organizational collaboration capabilities promotion has mediating effect on the relationship between relational embeddedness and cooperative performance of upstream and downstream supply chain coordination coordination(3) When investigates dynamic selection about the dimension of upstream or downstream relational embeddedness on the impact of cooperation performance, this study has found that the level of trust and joint problem solving between the enterprise and their upstream suppliers play significant role in promoting performance of the upstream supply chain collaboration; while, the level of trust and information sharing between the enterprise and their downstream customers play crucial role in promoting performance of the downstream supply chain collaboration.
