Study On The Transformation Of Leading Industry In Resource-dependent Cities

The transformation of leading industry of resource-dependent cities is a world wide research subject, which has also drawn attention of more and more specialists and scholars in China. The thesis try to find the generic problems of this kind of city through the analysis of their characteristic rules, then the method of selecting and cultivating alternative and continuous industries is discussed, which will act as theory foundation for the industry transformation in these cities.Main content of the thesis is as follows:the first part introduces present research condition of the theory circle both at home and abroad. The second part introduces the character of the resource industry, the major problems of resource-dependent cities, and the necessity of their transformation. The third part puts focus on the selection, cultivation and development of the continuous leading industry. The major indicators and the selection model have also been discussed here. The forth part has made an empirical study on the selection and cultivation of leading industry in Dongying City, by applying the six standards of demand income elasticity, technology level, industry connectivity degree, environment influence factors, comparative advantage, economic benefit(accumulated). The alternative industry index has been calculated through the study, and the industry medium has been specified to relative enterprises and products. It has also put forward suggestions and opinions for the development of continuous industry in Dongying City. The last part has reviewed the whole thesis and made an outlook for the future.
