| Fluid power component is the basic element for manufacturing industry and the key factor for enhancing the technology and quality level of manufacturing industry, however due to the late start and poor foundation, the technology and quality level of Chinese fluid power components is relatively low. How to find a good approach to improve product quality has been an urgent consideration for many fluid power components manufacturers. Quality Function Deployment (Referred to as QFD below) is a very popular quality assurance tool in the international for new product development. Many renowned multinational companies which are improving product reliability through the application of QFD to improve product quality have achieved remarkable results.In this paper, the author took Asian Technical Center of company X-a globally leading company in fluid power industry as the research object to conduct in-depth case studies and research on it. Based on the deep understanding of the details of the product characteristics, technical capability, design and development procedure, and quality control process and method for new product development of the technical center, the author made a study and analysis to the current state of new product development quality control using the QFD theoretical knowledge acquired. Aiming at the existing problems in new product development quality control the author probed the probability of applying the QFD methodology to identify the customer requirement and design the customer requirement into the products so that the designed products can really meet the requirement of customer. This paper also depicts in details about the stages and method how to implement QFD in the quality control process of the new product development in Company X by using QFD in the Hanging Cylinder project, by which the paper provides a live case of the application of QFD in the fluid power component development and finds out an effective approach for company X to improve the quality control level in the new product development. |
