A Study On Jiangsu Energy Consumption , Structural Changes And Economic Growth

As the development of the global economy, the energy constraint on the economic growth is becoming more and more obvious and the world competition for energy resources is becoming more and more intensly. The commercial competition and wars for energy resources in the world is more intensly. Therefore, economists around the world pay more attention on the relationship between energy and economic growth. By 30 years of reform and opening up China's economic growth model has undergone great change; as one of the fastest growing provinces, Jiangsu province, the industrial upgrading and Sunan model of Jiangsu province have given China's economic development a good model. As an energy lacking province,the relationship between economic development and energy of Jiangsu province drawn more attention of scholars.The role of energy for economic growth is reflected by the amount of energy input and energy efficiency, most of the past study focused on the relationship of energy inputs and economic growth ,ignoring the impact of efficiency of energy and structural changes. Jiangsu has developed energy processing industry and Sophisticated industrial system; industrial sector hasve a significant impact both on energy consumption and energy efficiency. In this paper, we will use time-series econometric methods to study the relationship of the energy consumption and economic growth .And we will also use energy intensity decomposition model of six six departments to analyze the impact of energy efficiency by the change of Jiangsu industrial sector. And we draw the following conclusions:(1) Energy consumption is an important factor of economic growth of Jiangsu. Jiangsu'industrial-based economy, which has a great proportion of heavy industry, needs a lot of energy.(2) The structure sector has an greater impact on energy demand and different sectors has different initial energy consumption and energy consumption trends .(3) The structure sector has an important impact on energy efficiency .By the energy intensity decomposition model we found: the decrease of Jiangsu energy intensity is the role of improving efficiency of industrial structure .
