The site selection of logistics center is a hotly debated question in the study of logistics. It determines directly the efficiency of logistics center and affects the role it plays in the social and economic development. Site selection has the close relation with stock and transportation cost. That is to say, the site of logistics center will determine the costs and expenses of transporting business. Scientific and reasonable site can not only reduce the expenses and improve the efficiency, but provide excellent and effective logistics services. Therefore, the site selection of logistics center is an essential problem in the research of the whole logistics system. At the same time, influenced by the distribution of commodity resources, the status of demand and the conditions of transportation and nature, the logistics centers in various cities of the same region have different economic benefits to the whole logistics system and society. As a technology system solving and analyzing comprehensively the geospatial data, GIS (Geographic Information System), which is applied to logistics business, will change current logistic management into intelligent management and make itself the best tool for site selection of logistics center due to its powerful spatial analysis function and integrated decision function.On the basis of the domestic and overseas research achievements, the thesis sets logistics centers in Henan province as research object and studies intensively the network of logistics centers and puts forward the distinct network system for Henan province and the classification of logistics center of Henan province.By studying traditional site selection models deeply and their scopes and characteristics, utilizing the most authoritative geographic information system software-ArcGIS, developed by ESRI, integrating System Optimization Model and geographic information space analysis technique, the thesis is intended to analyze in detail the site selection of logistics center in Henan province, apply different models to logistics centers with different ranks. The site selections are set by putting the calculated results into practice.the main work and new innovation of this dissertation:(1)In-depth study of the model of logistics center location, and organically combines the rational model of logistics center location and GIS, then change the traditional quantitative analysis model into a human-computer interaction models.(2) The previous selection process used qualitative and quantitative methods are simple, and some methods are too subjectivity, which often can't find the realistic location. based on the analysis of the integrated index system of logistics center selection, select a index system of the site selection of logistics location in Henan province, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, then prove the improved model is effective.(3)The network analysis based on GIS give the traffic factors of the logistical center to GIS, portrays the effects of the time and distribution cost that caused by all kinds of traffic conditions precisely, overcome the defect that inaccurate generated by distance calculate in traditional site selection of logistical.(4)Based on the actual situation of logistics center configuration in Henan Province, by the depth study of the logistics network in Henan Province, the logistics center in Henan Province will be divided into three structures as a whole, establish a traffic network database of Henan Province, obtained all levels options by analysis, then find the biggest logistical center by using the gravity of geographical center model, and find the second and the third level logistical center be using P-center resource allocation model, illustrate the feasibility of the results based on the actual situation, this paper will provides suggestions of the site selection of logistical center for other province. This thesis consists of six parts. The first part is a concise introduction to the research background and research significance. It also analyzes and summarizes the current situation of planning and researching logistics center at home and abroad. The research questions and innovation will be put forward. Part two is devoted to a comprehensive overview of the definition, formation, type and function of logistics center. It analyzes the strategic purpose, effect factors, basic principles and site selection procedures. Part three is the summary of the advantages and disadvantages of classic site selection models. It also introduces GIS briefly and sums up the application of GIS to the site selection of single logistics center and multiple logistic centers. Part four is the research thinking and technical route. It gives a general introduction to the status of logistics business in Henan province, which is fundamental for choose index system and build data base. Part five is the way in which the site selections of the central, the secondary and the tertiary class logistics centers are established by using different models. And the optical decisions are made by putting the calculated results into practice. The last part is the conclusion of this thesis, and the future work is presented as well.
