After Copenhagen meeting, by impact of "low-carbon economy" new energy development trend, electric power industry is facing greater pressure on resources and the environment. By the end of 2009, China's installed capacity of thermal power accounted for 74.6%of the total, coal-based energy consumption can not be fundamental change for a long period of time. On the other hand, a "positive development of nuclear power" has become a basic principle of China's power development. According to China's "Long-term National Nuclear Power Development Plan (2005-2020)", by 2020, China's nuclear power installed capacity will reach 40000 MW, which the pull of the relevant nuclear power equipment manufacturing market will reach hundreds of billions. With a new round of economic development, SPEC as a traditional power generation equipment manufacturing-based will face baptism.Shanghai Power Equipment Co., Ltd. (SPEC) is a subsidiary of Shanghai Electric Power Group (SEC). SPEC currently is the largest and leading technology manufacture in China, which continued to maintain a leadership position. The main product of Spec is pressure vessel and heat exchanger, also one of the four backbone power generation equipment manufacturing base in Shanghai. Facing with new opportunities and challenges, how to clarify development strategy and look for a further improvement is the main SPEC has to solve.This article is starting with anglicizing the external market environment (including thermal power generation market, nuclear power and desalination market, the market) and internal resources (including technical capability, manufacturing capability, management capability and profitability) SPEC facing with. Clarify the strengths and weaknesses, new features, development opportunities of the company and competition status. On this basis, in accordance with SWOT analysis, finally proposed the development ideas, strategic objectives and product segmentation strategy, which is specialization fundamental, diversified developments, finally reach a goal of autonomy, use of technology and brand, relying on the new energy, entering new markets. Combined with the actual status of the company, point the key points of how to control the actualization of strategy. Meanwhile, according to characteristics of the company, and puts forward the plan of strategic control programs. That put forward development strategy will clear a unique business philosophy in the face of the opportunities and challenges, also give a corresponding solutions of development direction and how to develop.
