This thesis puts forward a water-emulsion adhesive applied to bonding polyolefine material (EPDM) and fabric. Currently, the main adhesives for bonding EPDM is solvent-based, which polluted the environment, but the common water-emulsion adhesive can result in poor bonding strength of EPDM, therefore, it is essential to develop water-emulsion adhesive applied to bonding EPDM, and the new adhesive has great applied prospects of engineering.The composite curing agent dispersion used as curing system of water-emulsion adhesive was prepared by high-speed shearing, then, the adhesive used for bonding EPDM rubber and fabric was prepared by emulsion physical blending method. The effect of natural rubber latex, neoprene latex, styrene-acrylate emulsion and composite curing agent dispersion on bonding strength of water-emulsion adhesive was discussed. The results are as follows:When the mass ratio of neoprene latex/natural rubber latex/acrylic emulsion/composite curing agent dispersion is 5:5:1.5:3, the bonding strength of water-emulsion adhesive was the highest. The T-peeling strength tests of sample which prepared by bonding EPDM rubber and cotton-polyester fabric can reach to 1.66 MPa.The effect of different types and amount of vulcanization accelerator in water-emulsion adhesive on T-peeling strength was studied. The results are as follows: Among the four accelerants contained in adhesives, which are dibenzothiazole disulfide(DM), tetramethyl thiuram disulfide (TMTD), N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolyl sulfenamide (CZ), Dibutyl Dithiocarbamate Zinc (BZ) on the the peeling strength of water emulsion adhesive, the DM and CZ are more effective than TMTD and BZ, and the best one is DM. When the dosage of DM is 0.68% or the dosage of CZ is 1.02%, the T-peeling strength of water-emulsion adhesive is the greatest, the T-peeling strength of each one can reach to 1.66MPa and 1.67MPa.In order to improve the bonding strength of water emulsion adhesive, the method of using water-based tackifying resin modified on water-emulsion adhesive must be conducted, meanwhile, the effect of water-based tackifying resin on adhesive was discussed. The results are as follows:Water-based petroleum resin and water-based terpene resin may well improve the bonding strength of water-emulsion adhesive. When the dosage of water-based petroleum resin is 15%or the dosage of water-based terpene resin is 25%, the T-peeling strength of each one can reach to 2.72MPa and 2.82MPa, and the contact angle on EPDM surface of each one drop from 55°to 43.9°and 43.6°. The effect of water-based maleated rosin on the bonding strength is not very well. When the dosage of water-based maleated rosin is 30%, the T-peeling strength can drop to 0.61MPa, and the contact angle on EPDM surface reach to 107.9°. The changes of contact angle proved that water-based petroleum resin and water-based terpene resin can well reduce the surface tension of water-emulsion adhesive, it is easy for water-emulsion adhesive to spread on the surface of materials with low surface energy, so the adhesive performance of water-emulsion adhesive was greatly improved.
