Water-based ink is a "green" printed materials, acrylic resin for water-based ink hassome advantages, such as light color, strong adhesion, excellent weather resistance and hightransparency. Due to the reasons of water, defects of water-based ink, including poor waterresistance, gloss low, slow drying, seriously affect printing effects. Therefore, the water-basedink of excellent comprehensive performance was prepared bypre-emulsified semi-continuous emulsion polymerization with optimizing formulations andprocesses of emulsion.Hybrid emulsifier constitutes of m(CO-630) and m(A-246L) was at a ratio of1:1.5andat a total dosage of2.0wt%.0.4wt%APS,3~8wt%pre-emulsion and0.2wt%DDM wereadded in emulsion polymerization, which temperature was80℃.Styrene-acrylicemulsion prepared was delicate and light blue, which viscosity was suitable and particle sizedistribution was uniform. Emulsion polymerization stability was high andthe condensation rate was very small. The film was high gloss and its water absorption waslow. The design of glass transition temperature of polymer was16.3~21.7°C, the dosage ofSt, AA, HEA, and NMA was20wt%,2.0wt%,4.0wt%,3.0wt%. Emulsion polymerizationwas stable, its viscosity was suitable and storage stability was high. The film was continuous,transparent and the film properties were great, such as low water absorption, wearresistance, adhesion, hardness and so on.Several testing methods such as GPC, DSC, ZSNanoS and Elcometer406were adoptedto characterize the emulsion. Emulsion molecular weight and its distribution were determinedby GPC. Meanwhile, Emulsion particle size and its distribution were determined by ZSNanoS.DSC curve showed that glass transition temperature range of polymer was0.26~-25.6℃and its Tg was18.78℃, which was higher than the theoretical value and it confirmedthat the polymer had a certain degree of cross linking. TEM images displayed polymer latexparticles were regular spherical and its particle size distribution was uniform.In the process of preparation of water-based ink, it was showed thatthe increase of the emulsion would help to improve the luster of the water-based ink;While the increase of water consumption would reduce the sheen of the water-based ink; When6.0wt%ethanol,3.0wt%D-806wax emulsion and1.0wt%Glide482levelingagents were added into water-based ink, its gloss would achieve the best.
