Styrene-acrylic latex have some advantages:simple synthesis process, no poison and smell, great application potential and moderate in price. The modified styrene-acrylic latex can widen the applications of styrene-acrylic latex. This study synthesized silica-styrene-acrylic latex and Epoxy grafted-styrene-acrylic latex using emulsion polymerization, and then the osmoyic agent、sealing compound with functions of waterproof, crack resistence and pressure-proof and anti-corrosive paint have been developed to be used in concrete structure corrosion engineering.1. Silica-styrene-acrylic latex was prepared using in-site emulsion polymerization. The polymerization parameters and the type and amount of were systematieally studied. The latex morphology was analyzed by TEM. The results indicated that:the optimum conditions to obtain stable latex are T=80℃, pre-emulsified monomer dropwise technology, the holding temperature T=85℃, the holding time60min. The complex emulsifier system was better than single emulsifier system.2. Compared with styrene-acrylic latex, blend of silica sol and styrene-acrylic latex, the silica-styrene-acrylic latex has better penetrative effect on concrete structure as an osmotic agent.3. Epoxy-grafted-styrene-acrylic latex with30wt%of epoxy resin was prepared through emulsion polymerization. The amount of functional monomers and initiators on polymerization stability and storage stability were systematieally studied. The results indicated that:when the content of initiator and functional monomer were0.4wt%and0.8wt%respectively, the epoxy-grafted-styrene-acrylic latex has a good polymerization stability, storage stability and Ca2+stability.4. The sealing compound with functions of waterproof, crack resistence and pressure-proof and anti-corrosive paint have been developed with epoxy-grafted-styrene-acrylic latex as the cohesive material. The properties of the two products have reached advanced level in China according to the examining report of Yangzhou Product Quality Supervision and Testing Institute.
