Water-borne adhesive has many features, such as it is environmentally friendly, no harmful volatile organic compounds and easy to clean. This is accord to the development trend of adhesive, so the development of water-based adhesive is valued. The study does some research about water-borne paper-plastic adhesive, water-borne paper adhesive, water-borne wood adhesive and water-borne foam shoe adhesive. The relationship between the adhesive's composition and properties was explores by characterizing the particle size, contact angle, viscosity and peel strength of the water-borne adhesives. First, the modified natural resin solution (GTSR) and modified vegetable oil solution (GZYR) was developed and reached. When GZYR and GTSR blend with VAE emulsion, the peel strength of the emulsion can be developed by 42.8%, and the initial bonding strength of the emulsion was greatly improved. Secondly, bentonite and borax was added to the starch graft styrene-acrylic emulsion which can be used as water-borne paper adhesive. The adhesive's bond performance was equivalent to the imported adhesives (polyacrylate emulsion), but its cost is one-third imported adhesives. Then, formaldehyde was added to the he starch graft vinyl acetate emulsions which can be used as water-borne wood adhesive. The adhesive's tensile strength was worse than the white latex (polyvinyl acetate), but its cost is one-third imported adhesives. However, the cost of adhesives and environmental protection are significantly better than the white latex. Finally, starch graft copolymers blends of natural rubber latex concentrate, and the emulsions can be used as water-borne foam shoe adhesive. The adhesive's bond performance was equivalent to natural rubber latex concentrate, but its cost is cut off.
