With the continuous development of human’s social and economic activities, theenvironmental problems have increasingly become serious, for example, population overload,over-exploitation of resources, unreasonable industrial structure, indiscriminate discharge ofpollutants, so it makes the relationship of economic development and ecological environmentbecoming more sensitive than ever, and the ecological environment condition in sensitive andfragile areas have become more serious than before. Since the reform and opening up, alongwith the large-scale development of the Yellow River Delta, the level of economicdevelopment keeps rapid grow, but at the same time,it also caused a rapid deterioration ofecological environment, the fragile ecological environment in the middle and later periods ofthe regional development has greatly restricted the development of local economy. Under thebackground, the mutually dependence and interacted relationship between economicdevelopment and ecological environment have become more prominent. The Yellow RiverDelta as a typical ecological sensitive and special ecological function areas, for its specialnatural and geographical conditions, on one hand, show the fragile ecological environmentcharacteristics, on the other hand, it also show a good momentum of economic development, which play an important component for the ecological security. The Yellow River Delta is animportant hub of economic development for connecting Northeast,North China and CentralChina region,so because of that, its ecological construction for Shandong province is not onlythe basis for promoting sustainable social and economic development, but also having a veryprofound practical and historical significance for safeguarding the regional economicdevelopment and ecological security of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow River, improving thelayout of the coastal economy, enhancing the overall strength and competitiveness of theBohai Sea region. This study selected Dongying City and Binzhou City which are the main region on YellowRiver Delta as the research object, which integrated use of geographic information technologyand multivariate statistical analysis ways. With three remote sensing images in2001,2005and2010made into land use data and the socio-economic data for Dongying, Binzhou City inthe period of2001-2010as the primary data source. From the perspective of the overall andregional differences, using earth science, the economics, and ecology knowledgesystematically evaluate economic development and the ecological environment of Dongying,Binzhou City during2001-2010. At the same time, the level of interaction between ecologicalenvironmen has been quantitative analysis in study area, which reveal the change rules ofenvironment, economic development and ecological dynamic changes in different periods ofthe study area, exploring the establishment of ecological economic research area with an interactive mode. The main conclusions are as follows:1.the general ecological environment quality of Dongyingcity and Binzhou city had thetendency of rising as a whole during2001-2010, the ecological environment quality indexofDongying city rose from0.395in2001to0.477in2010, and the quality indexrose from0.262in2001to0.489in2010in Binzhou city. The cultivated land area, forest area land andpollutant emissions are the main factors which restrict the ecological environment quality inthe two cities. The ecological environment condition in some counties has the trend ofdegradation, especially theWudicounty, which ecological environmental quality index is thelowest, and continues to decline. The ecological environment quality in Hekou countryexperienced the biggestfall: its ecological environment quality index fell2.553during the tenyears. The rest of the counties have the stable development, all exhibited varying degrees ofupward trend, Huimin county has the best development in the ecological environment, itsecological environment index reached1.732in2010,with a higher average annual growthrate than the region ’s average.2.During the period of2001-2010, the quality of economic development in Dongying Cityand Binzhou City generally presents rising trends, the county economic development levelhave different degrees of growth, the economic development quality index ofDongyingcityreached0.653in2010, has increased1.99point compared with the quality index in2001,the quality index reached0.603in Binzhou city,1.7point higher than that in2001.Amongthese counties,Zouping county shows the best economic development level as benefits fromclothing textiles, new materials, food, medicine and any other six leading industries. During20012010, itseconomic development growth rate had reached up to2.17and the county ’seconomy has maintained the development level rapidly.Kenli country as the main producingarea of the Shengli Oilfield, its development on petrochemicals, fine chemicals and otherindustries have inherent advantages, meanwhile in the promotion of new technologies, newindustries such as equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials and so on havecontinued to develop, and there is a rapid growth on economic strength, it grew from-0.49in2011to1.18in2010.its economic structure has been optimized. The economic development ofGuangrao country and Bincheng country keep steady level, the quality index of economicdevelopment achieved steady growth.Due to the lack of prominent industry driven inYangxin, the level of productivity is low in the region, its scores of economic developmentquality index ranksto the bottom of all the region, and the growth rate of economicdevelopment keeps the minimum level.3.During the period of2001-2010,the interactivelevel between ecological environmentand economic development in Dongying City and Binzhou City presents tendency of "∩" type,as the turning point in2007, the interactivelevelbetween the two cities experienced a slow rise a rapid rise and a slow decline. The degree of interaction between ecological environment andeconomic development of Dongying City scored0.418in2001and0.519in2010,which isrisen by0.101.In2007,thescore of the Dongying City’s interaction between ecologicalenvironment and economic developmentis0.664,which is the highest score during the10years.The Binzhou′s score of interaction between ecological environment and economicdevelopment rose from0.420in2001to0.602in2010, with an increase of1.82.Before2005,theconstraints of theinteractive level between ecological environment and economicdevelopment in the two cities was the economic development level.After2005, withthe risingeconomic strength, productivity has also been improved, the degree of transforming andmakinguse of the natural environment had also been deepened. For it has a shorter history that theYellow River Delta became into land, fragile ecological environment, unreasonable andextensive economic development model will seriously undermine the harmonious relationshipbetween people and land, intensifying the disharmony degree between environment andeconomic.During2001-2010, in Dongying and Binzhou City, the interactivelevelbetweenenvironment and economic presents the obvious lagged features, counties’ scoresof ecologicalenvironment quality are generally lower than the quality of the counties’ economicdevelopment quality scores. Based on the overall trajectory analysis of time series, the YellowRiver Delta region shows the trendthat the interactive level between environment andeconomic evolved from slightlydeclining to moderately development, but that does not meanthat the interactive relationship between ecological environment construction and economicdevelopment has been in a state of virtuous cycle, compared with similar areas, its economicdevelopment levelis still low,and its ecological environment comprehensive benefit index isnot high.
