| The traditional wooden living utensils in Huaihua rural areas with strong local characteristics and design research value. Due to lifestyle changes and a variety of reasons, traditional wooden utensils endangered lives. This paper aims to study its design features and ideas, then provide the basis for inherit and carry forward the traditional design art.The topic’s research object are traditional wooden living utensils in Huaihua rural areas, which the integrated use of literature, field surveys and other methods, which combined with the local natural environment, to analysis of timber objective reasons of the traditional life of local wooden utensils, which combined with the human environment to analyze the impact of economic life, lifestyle, folk customs and other to the local traditional wooden life of the appliance. Based on design art theory, analytic functions of various types of traditional life appliances, focusing on traditional wooden utensils life form, structure, materials and so on. Based on modern lifestyles, the traditional and modern life appliances comparative studies.The study found that traditional wooden living utensils in Huaihua rural areas have some very reasonable scientific design, such as in the shape of traditional wooden living utensils are concise style and handle grip function; in the timber, the wood is an ideal material for the natural environment; in the structure, traditional wooden life utensils are firm structure and bonding clever; in size, in addition to ergonomic considerations monomer appliances; the use of color, focus on the natural environment, on the health and environmental protection in line with the modern philosophy of life, while focusing on contact and color meaning.These are worth at reasonable inheritance and learn, but have some does not apply to the modern lifestyle and needs improvement.
