Along with the development of science and technology and the development ofequipment manufacturing industry demanding, more and more new materials areinvented to meet the needs of the market, especially the super high strength, superhardness and super high toughness of the material have sprung up. For this kind ofmaterial processing, it is more and more test of existing and new processingtechnology, short arc machining technique, as a new rise of special processingtechnology is produced in such cases. And it is also rapidly developed as a force ofspecial machining.Because of short electrical arc machining technology is a new special processingtechnology rising in recent decades, its theoretical system is not perfect enough,especially the study of its machining mechanism is not clear, all of this lead to theworkpiece surface quality is not very well, also it showing that this technology hasgreat potential in the field of finishing.Based on the research and analysis of the various factors that influencing theworkpiece surface quality on the processing, this paper’s purpose is to improve thequality of the workpiece surface by changing the parameters of power source.This paper collected the processing discharge waveform under different dischargeparameters, through multi-factor orthogonal experiment to seek the influence regularof discharge parameters on surface roughness, and combined with the single factorexperiment to make further analysis of main factors; Building the mathematical modelof surface roughness by stepwise regression calculation and analysis of influencefactors in the processing technologyStudy the physical and mechanical properties of the workpiece surface layer of typicalmaterial processed by short electrical arc machining, including microstructure, surfaceresidual stress and the change of the microscopic cracks and surface hardness, Analysing the surface morphology based on the microscopic image of processing areaon specimen. Preliminary analysis and observe the machining efficiency and surfacequality of super-alloy processed by short arc machining technique, and laidfoundation for short electrical arc machining processing super-hard, super classmaterials.
