Mahai basin is located in northern Chaidamu basin with typical dry weather characteristics. Water resources have become a constraint to local environment and economy development. Therefore floodwater utilization has become a important way to make up with the lacking of water resources. The potassium mineral is the most important resources to local economy, but after years of overtime mode mining, the potassium mineral in the upper layers have no way to be collected whether in space or time.so it have been unable to meet the needs of production. Therefore this study has a practical and scientific significant in floodwater utilization and potassium mineral mode innovation. In another way, research of groundwater system’s response to human activity such as floodwater utilization and new mode of potassium mining has important significant either. This study will focus on potassium mining mode innovation and floodwater using, and construct the groundwater numerical model base on the analysis of local hydrogeological conditions. Set up groundwater using scenes and forecast the groundwater system’s response of those scenes. The study conclusions could be used as a scientific evidence of local development planning whether in economy and environment. The conclusions of this study have been listed as:1.The new mode potassium mining which has been innovated in this study could collect low-value potassium mineral directly to increase the available resources.2.Flood resource utilization project is determined based on demonstration area’s hydrogeological conditions, take advantage of road to interrupter floodwater and in order to make floodwater infiltrate into groundwater layers, using road culvert as a tank to keep floodwater stay.3. Construct Heterogeneity, isotropic, three-dimensional steady flow numerical groundwater model. Using actual measured water level to Identify and verify the model. The result indicate that theshallow water and confined water level fitting is credible.4. According to local economy development planning, set up two water using scenes and calculate water resources quantity. Forecast the response to those water using scenes of groundwater system. The result indicate that mining deeper confined layer potassium mineral will impact groundwater system greatly.
