Genus Coenosia belongs to order Diptera, family Muscidae, subfamily Coenosiinae, tribe Coenosiini. Up to now, approximate 700 scientific names are known in the world. Genus Coenosia from China and adjacent country was studied, a total of 170 species, 104 species in Palaearctic Region, 59 species in Oriental Region, 7 common species of Palaearctic and Oriental Regions, 114 species in China. Terminalia’s model figures of each species-group and species-subgroup were drawn by using comparative morphology. Thereout, Differentiated hypothesis of male terminalia of genus Coenosia was proposed; 170 Coenosia species from China and adjacent country were divided into following 8 species-groups according to the theory: Coenosia flavimana-group, surstyli bent as knee and flagellomere 1 with cone-like process at apex; Coenosia flavipenicillata-group, the apical part of cerci widened in posterior view; Coenosia intermedia-group, epandrium with anteroventral valve; Coenosia mollicula-group, free part of cerci distinctly long, at least 1.2 times as long as height of epandrium; Coenosia pedella-group, free part of cerci slightly short, the length at most subequal to the height of epandrium; Coenosia sallae-group, the distal part cerci furcate in posterior view, the length of furcation at least twice the broad of furcation; Coenosia testacea-group, the inner margin of cerci with dentate process and process with hairs; Coenosia tigrina-group, hind tibia with apposed av and ad. Key to species-group, key to species of each species-group, geographic distribution of each species, terminalia figures of 112 known species, descriptions of 13 new species and chinese names of 40 species were the innovation points. There are about 29000 words, 223 illustrations. The paper emphasized the study on primitive character and evolution characteristics of male terminalia of Coenosia, which reflected the process of phylogeny, and differentiated hypothesis of male terminalia of genus Coenosia was proposed, which made species-group system more scientific; model figure of male terminalia of Coenosia species-group and key to species-group provided data for peer, which improved practicability.
