Research On Breeding Behavior And Nesting Habitat Of Platalea Leucorodla Qixing River Reserve

Breed behaviors of White Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia) were observed from April to August in 2013 and 2014 in Qixing River Nature Reserve,Heilongjiang province,and nesting habitat of White Spoonbill was investigated.Breeding behavior spectrum and PAE coding system of White Spoonbill was constructed,meanwhile,the suitable nesting habitat characteristics of White Spoonbill was founded through the principal component analysis and sample data analysis.Nest characteristics in brooding period of white spoonbill was described and measured.The results showed thatbreeding behavior of White Spoonbill can be divided into 16 categories,92 behaviors according to its function and individual behavior and reproductive behavior were described separately."Resting behavior"> "sports" "feeding behavior"、"maintenance activities"、"temperature control behavior" "communication"、"alert"、"miscellaneous"are individual behavior,including behaviors occured during physiological activities in adults and juveniles;and "courtship"、"brooding"、"adjust"、"dry egg"、"repair the nest"、"leave the nest" "back to the nest"、"brood"are behaviors occurred on adult individuals during reproductive period.The Posture coding,Motion coding and Environment code were defined,and PAE spectrum coding behavior of White Spoonbill was built.Nesting environment of White Spoonbill was unity,nesting in the reed marshes.Suitable nesting habitat for White Spoonbill was reed height 154.486 ±5.042 cm, reed density of 208.138±7.644Root/m2,reed coverage 74.5±2.6%,ratio of old reeds 84.5±7.1%,water depth 34.754±0.373cm,distance from human disturbance 560.115± 3.232m,distance from clear water surface 58.759 ± 3.099m,Clear water surface area 1095.058 ±3.129 m2."Reed height","reed density","ratio of old reeds","distance from human disturbance","distance from clear water surface" were main factors effected breed of White Spoonbill.
