A Taxonomic Study On The Family Mutillidae (Hymenoptera) From China

The family Mutillidae Latreille,1802belongs to the superfamily Vespoidea (Hymenoptera, Apocrita), including10subfamilies,210genera and4302species worldwide. The majority of Mutillidae are ectoparastoids of larvae and pupae of solitary Apidae, Halictidae, Sphecidae and Vespidae while a few parasitise the immature stage of Coleoptera, Diptera, Lepidoptera, Blattodea, Isoptera, Hemiptera and some social Hymenoptera. The species of Mutillidae from China are revised in the present work. The thesis comprises two parts, general part and taxonomic part.The general part is mainly about taxonomic history, morphology, biology and biogeography of Mutillidae. In the taxonomic part,68species and5subspecies of18genera in7subfamilies from China are described in detail, of which one genus and eleven species are new to science, six species are recorded from China for the first time, and three species are new combinations. Information of diagonostic characters, distribution and hosts are provided for each genus and species. Keys to subfamilies, tribes, genera and species are provided.
