With the rapid economic development of our country in recent years, the shortage of energy, which severely threatens our national development and strategic security, is more concerned. Moreover, a large-scale consumption of fossil energy such as coal, oil and gas brought serious environmental pollution. Jiangsu Province, consuming the largest amount of energy resources in our country, keeps jumping up in the demand of energy resources.Geothermal energy, a valuable and clean resource, is treated as a renewable resource as one main concern in "12th five-year plan" in China. Human being pays more attention to it. On the other hand, Jiangsu Province has abundant geothermal energy resources, especially low-temperature ones. Developing and utilizing these sources of this area will improve regional environment and optimize the energy structure.This research object of this article is geothermal energy in Jiangsu Province, and the goal is to utilize the shallow and deep geothermal energy. We analyzed regional geological settings and distribution characters, and made a systemic plan for the comprehensive use of the source. Through calculating, evaluating and estimating total resources, we have proposed a comprehensive utilization project. This article shows:1) Jiangsu Province has an advantage of geothermal energy, especially Donghai-Tanlu fault area, Dongtai in north Jiangsu basin area, and Nanjing geothermal anomaly area can be used as key areas of the hot dry rock resources development and utilization in Jiangsu province;2) In shallow crust, exploiting resources by using GSHP (Ground Source Heat Pump), improve the utilization rate of shallow geothermal energy through numerical simulation of temperature field distribution around the heat exchanger;3) In deep crust, seeking HDR (Hot Dry Rock) resources, the resource amount at the depth of3000-8000m could reach2.18x1021J, On the basis of2%of the exploitable rate, which is equivalent to the heat of0.15billion tons of standard coal. Thus, projects are accessible in economic and technological ways and expected economic and social benefits will be achieved.
