With rapid urbanization and development of economic, the derived problems become prominent, so the landscape of a region is extremely important. If the local landscape is not reasonable, the sustainable development of economy and ecology of a region will be affected. And this will cause air pollution, reduce of biodiversity, deterioration of ecological environment and serious erosion of soil.This thesis employed two TM images acquired on September, 1992 and March, 2010 in Shifang City, Sichuan Province, the Sichuan border picture, DEM in shifang District as the supporting information, and use the ENVI software to do the geometric correction, tailoring, information extraction, classification and visual interpretation combined with geo-relevant knowledge supported by GIS and remote sensing technology. Finally, the classification images were generated and the corresponding area were caluated.The dominance(D), patch density(PD), diversity index(H), fractal dimension(FD), evenness(E), connectedness(COHESION), degree of spread(CONTAG) are selected to make analysis combined with Principle of landscape ecology with Fragstas software. By selecting the landscape indicators to analyze landscape pattern of Shifang City, and landscape features and differences of the city can be understood, as well as the driver factors can be derived. Finally, the problems of landscape pattern and the landscape evolution during economic development were analyzed, and these can provide important evidence for future research on improving environment and urban planning.After analyzing the results, the landscapes of Shifang City from 1992 to 2010 have had a series of changes:Firstly, for 18 years, the landscape fragmentation has increased. The construction land landscape were dominated in the study area, and there were obvious changes of landscape plaque area. The areas of woodland and arable land showed the tendency to reduce, while water, construction land, pasture, transport land showed a trend of increase.Secondly, from 1992 to 2010, the general landscape had great changes, the number plaque continued to increase, the landscape evenness was not high and each plaque had small difference. The Contagion index grew from 33.2986 to 46.789, which showed that some prevalent plaque of the landscape level had good continuity, also showed that the landscape types of the landscape accounted for a large proportion of the whole landscape.Thirdly, with the development of economy, the landscape diversity of 18 years gradually increased, dominance of landscape patterns reduced, area between patches have been reducing, lawn and landscape, landscape construction land increased. And these results indicated that when local government paid more attention to local development, although the ecological environment had been improved, contraction between people and land and ecological problems have been still persisted. And the landscape patterns are also influenced by natural factors, socio-economic cultural factors and the impact of driving factors such as urbanization, policies. Especially in the natural topography of greater influence on landscape pattern. Research of this area can provide a basis to make decision for relevant departments work arrangements of local government.
