With the development of economy & society and the promotion of informatization construction, the fundamental work in Surveying and Mapping is facing more stringent requirement on data’s timeliness and acquisition capacity. The popularity of smart mobile devices brings enormous chance to the reform of field work in Surveying and Mapping. The cross-platform software development kits which is becoming much easier to use make it possible for surveying and mapping companies to develop applications based on their own demands.This research was seeking solutions that are able to connect to office work seamlessly and developed a field data collection system based on ArcGIS Runtime SDK and ArcGIS Server techniques. This solution makes the system an integrated platform with complete and coherent workflow and ability to store and edit spatial data offline and share data with office work directly by Feature Service. It shows some compatibility and portability advantages on data transmission and application.This research has finished several parts of work:1.It analyzed the features and applications of several Mobile GIS development techniques today, compared their advantages and disadvantages, explained the design and implementation of this field data collection system. It has absorbed strong points of other field work systems, avoided the inconvenience in the collaboration of field work and office work, provided some functions like data caching, map exploration, searching and positioning, feature editing, data collection and data synchronization. This system can basically meet the demand of different business.2. Researched and implemented the data synchronization solution. It used Enterprise Geodatabase and ArcGIS Runtime offline geodatabase to store、edit and sync spatial data, made the data more compatible and the operation more convenient.3. Designed and implemented the algorithm to split polygon features with specific polylines or ratios. It split、store、search and rebuild the new polygon features with polylines or calculate the result using the dichotomy, and has been proved to be efficient to improve the experience in data process work.4. The field data collection system based on ArcGIS Runtime SDK can reduce the complexity effectively, simplify the data processing work in the collaboration of field work and office work, improve the work efficiency and basically meet the different customized demands of Surveying and Mapping companies. It shows great application value and reference significance.
