Data acquisition is an important work in scientific research, especially in the field of natural science where the field data acquisition is often involved. Currently, smart electronic devices and the mobile GIS has been used in all kinds of field investigation.Based on the Android platform, and combining advanced technologies of mobile GIS with LBS, a field data acquisition system of scientific research was developed which can be applied widely. The purpose of this dissertation was to improve the traditional data acquisition methods and increase the efficiency of field data acquisition by using the mobile GIS technology combined with intelligent electronic devices.The related research progress on the field of data acquisition system and the advantages and disadvantages of several types of field data acquisition system was reviewed. And the frontier development of mobile GIS technology was introduced, especially the development of the LBS services. After the research of user’s requirements for field data acquisition, based on the Android platform, the system was designed and implemented the data acquisition system. There are many functions such as data entry, show data on the map, positioning and path query, data export, etc. The test of the system showed that the system was stable and reliable. It can be used widely. The accuracy of positioning is high, and it is easy to be used. It can met the general requirements of field data acquisition in scientific research, and it makes field data acquisition more convenient.The field data acquisition system can capture the digitized information of field spots in the same time of the field investigation, which can improve the efficiency of field data acquisition and avoid the repeated work. It makes field data acquisition more convenient in the process of scientific research.
