POS system, namely position and orientation system, is composed of inertial measuring unit and global position system.With the rapid development of science and technology, the application of the POS system is more and more widely. At the same time more areas also put forward higher requirements on its performance. However, due to the high price of POS system, the cost of the development of high-precision and high-performance equipment which based on the POS system is greatly increased. In order to save the cost as much as possible on condition that the system can realize its basic function, this thesis deals with the hardware control design.The article describes in detail the basic structure of the POS system, from its basic form to the completing of the design of the system. This article, based on ARM embedded processor S3C6410, designed and completed a POS hardware control system which is based on ARM and FPGA architecture. By accelerometer and three-axis gyroscope, the system can get the current three-axis speed and angular velocity information, and then convert the analog signal into digital signal through the AD7687BRM analog-to-digital conversion chip. Altera corporation Cyclone Ⅲ series FPGA EP3C40Q240parallel acquisition six-way data and upload the data to the processing system. At the same time, the GPS completes the time service of the whole system. Finally, the ARM passes the data to the PC for subsequent processing.The article discusses the overall design of the entire POS system and the achievement of its hardwares and softwares, giving the test results of the system at the same time. This test result indicates that the system can basically function as it is designed.
