Study On The Features Of Chinese Knowledge Workers In The New Period And The Countermeasures

With rapid development of information technology, we are stepping into the society based on knowledge economy. The knowledge worker management has gradually become the study focus in social communities including academic community. But the contemporary studies on knowledge workers' features are still lack of special study only for Chinese knowledge workers, especially for those born in the 1980s. Most of them all received better education and just started to work after graduation from their universities. So we can predict that they will become the main force in our socialism construction in the next 10-20 years. The lofty aim of the well-off society and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will be realized through their efforts or under their leadership. So the paper has its theoretical values and practical meanings to discuss their features deeply and put forward some countermeasures.Based on the related studies, the paper explained their general features first both psychological and cultural. Psychologically they are self-reliant, self-independent, innovative and strongly self-realized. As we see, management is deeply influenced by the social values, traditions and cultures. So if we take account of the cultural issues in the study on the knowledge workers, we could get their features with Chinese characteristics. Culturally the Chinese knowledge workers still have the typical features such as golden mean and pragmatism. They put much attention to the relationship, authority and social roles and reach a kind of harmony as possible as they can.With many social roles on their shoulders, the Chinese knowledge workers born in the 1980s are the first generation of only-child since we adopted the policy of family planning and the main part of our future knowledge workers. To some extent, they are also the intellectuals for their better education. All above which can provide us valuable clues for our study on the knowledge workers' features. Based on plenty ofstudies in management, sociology and the study about cultures, this paper analyzed their characteristics according to the writer's experiences and many social investigations. With strong personalities, they turn to be more pragmatic and worship equality and competition. Politically they have strong sense of responsibilities and revere liberty and democracy, but some of them are indifferent to politics. Morally they advocate secularism, hedonism, egoism and resist collectivism and devotion spirit. They have variable interests of learning, but lack of the humanities knowledge. They are eager for true feelings. As their appreciating for aesthetics is concerned, they have strong aesthetic needs, but lack of such a capability. As to their professionalism, all need to be improved for their lack of work experience.Finally on the basis of the analysis above, the paper proposed the countermeasures at the following six aspects: implementing the effective leadership;making the scientific motivation mechanism;building up the organizational structure based on knowledge;cultivating the organizational culture advocating communication, cooperation, innovation and learning;introducing the career life management and the self-management of knowledge workers.
