In the past few years, there has been a rapid development in Chain Stores, especially hypermarkets. With the expansion of hypermarkets, the logistics has become one of the bottlenecks. Third Party Logistics Provider assists the retailers to face the full opened retail market and fierce competition.Based on the international research fruits of outsourcing and Third Party Logistics, this thesis starts with the features of chain store and hypermarket. It analyzes the needs of the hypermarket in the field of logistics, the importance of logistics to hypermarket and the pros and cons of different logistics models. Furthermore, focused on the financing effects of outsourcing and the life cycle of hypermarket, it sets up a framework on the decision of outsourcing logistics for the hypemiarket. This thesis also studies the issues of how to select and manage the 3PL providers.In addition to the theoretical study, this thesis expounds a real world case of applying 3PL in hypermarket to demonstrate in detail how to create value for both parties in the partnership between hypermarket and 3PL provider by Management Information System.
